Sterling flows out of Sterling Valley and forms the East Branch of the Little river when it joins Moss Glen Brook on Stagecoach Road north of Stowe. Put in would be Sterling Ridge Road, off of Sterling Valley Road, off of Stagecoach Road. This run comes in when the Lamoille in Johnson goes over 2K. If you get scared off the Gihon or NBLamoille, check this one out as a Waterman Brook warm up. The first section is a great class 3 flush with 2 rapids that can approach 4, the first is under a foot bridge, both should be run center, to left to avoid undercut right walls. Great eddy hopping and hole punching. Then you cross under the road and things rachet up again leading up to the covered bridge. Then some quiet water brings you to the real reason to run Sterling. 2 nice sizeable drops that should be scouted. Please note a slot that should be walked after the covered bridge a ways, just after the river S bends left then right with a house on the river right. Protage/scout on the left. Gem. Enjoy. Watch for wood.

Scott Gilbert just ran this at a solid water level and posted some video. Said it was great! Video is here: www.uvm.edu/~sgilbert.
